Mr. Culp has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Danaher since May 2001.  During his tenure as CEO, Danaher has established leadership positions in the Medical Technologies and Product Identification markets while more than doubling total revenues to nearly $11B.

He’s taken clients rappelling off the Great Wall of China, facilitated at the Parliament of World Religions Conference in Spain, and spoken to a cheering crowd in the Netherlands. Prior to joining OC Tanner, Max lived in Shanghai, China for five years running programs for multi-national corporations and setting up a small retail business in 21 locations. With his experience in leadership training, speaking, and facilitating around the world, Max brings a global perspective to the challenge of motivating people.

It has been an amazing journey.  In 1979, after 18 years working with Data Processing companies, I started Productivity Inc. - Press by publishing a newsletter called PRODUCTIVITY.  At the time, I knew virtually nothing about the subject and had spent very little time in manufacturing facilities.  But, I quickly became fascinated with the subject and went to Japan to discover the processes that was making them the world leaders in quality improvement and productivity growth.

Richard J. Schonberger, Ph.D.

Richard Schonberger has delivered lectures, seminars, and advisory services to industrial and business organizations globally since 1981. His latest deeply and broadly researched book is Best Practices in Lean Six Sigma Process Improvement: A Closer Look . . . With Telling Evidence from the Leanness Studies (Wiley, 2007). He is originator of the term and concepts of world-class manufacturing via his book by that title (1986 in 7 languages), and is author of six other trade books including Japanese Manufacturing Techniques (1982 in 9 languages). Schonberger’s 150-plus articles have appeared in a wide range of academic and practitioner periodicals.

Steven Spear has written extensively about how exceptional organizations create competitive advantage through the strength of their internal operations, managing complex design, production, and administrative processes for unmatched performance.  His first book, Chasing the Rabbit, will be published by McGraw Hill in Fall 2008.  His articles, “Decoding the DNA of the Toyota Production System” and “Learning to Lead at Toyota” have been widely read, and Spear's “Fixing Healthcare from the Inside, Today,” won a McKinsey Award as one of the best Harvard Business Review articles in 2005 and his fourth Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing Research.  He has published in Annals of Internal Medicine and other medical journals as well.
