This Shingo 101 Workshop is being held at Karl Storz Endovision in Charlton, MA, providing the new enhanced value of an actual site-visit component to the popular Shingo 101 workshop format. Another exciting new improvement to the Shingo 101 course is the addition of an online pre-course component: Shingo 100, which is included with every registration.
The Shingo Prize Model and Business Guidelines have been developed to provide companies with a blueprint for lean transformation and attaining operational excellence that will drive an organization through the levels of transformation and will build a solid foundation for deep cultural change. The Shingo 101 Workshop provides an indepth understanding of the Shingo Model and teaches how to build lasting cultures where leaders know how to integrate the principles of Operating Excellence into the culture, managers know how to align the business and management systems of the company with the principles and employees know the higher reasons why the tools drive daily improvement.
Learning Objectives. Workshop participants will gain an understanding of The Shingo Model and the underlying principles behind The Shingo Prize philosophy and approach. They will learn and gain experience in aligning your organizational principles and core values with your systems. There will be group activities that help develop skills in assessing alignment, and also how to address misalignments by imbedding your principles into your work and management systems.
In addition, participants will develop a comprehensive working knowledge of The Shingo Prize Guidelines which includes the criteria and methods for assessment of the progress an organization has made in its lean transformation. By completing this training, participants will learn how to use The Shingo Model and Guidelines to complete internal self-assessment that will clearly identify areas for focus and improvement in the entire organization.
Unique Learning Approach Before the on-site workshop begins, all participants will complete an online learning module (Shingo 100) about The Shingo Model and its key elements. This module is highly interactive and engaging and will enable all participants to reach a common level of understanding.
The two day on-site workshop will combine additional learning modules with hands on activities that enhance learning. The main activity will be the actual detailed assessment of a portion of the company where the training is held. Participants will be grouped into assessment teams and will work through each step of the assessment process – preparation through initial desk assessment, visiting the workplace to observe and interview, team discussion and assessment, and finally creating a feedback report.
After the on-site workshop there is an optional online module (Shingo 102E) for an additional charge, that provides assessment of their understanding (required to become a Shingo Examiner). This provides the company with feedback regarding the effectiveness of the training. |
