SiemensParticipants will have the rare opportunity to visit Electronics Manufacturing Amberg (EWA), part of the Siemens Automation and Drives Group employing 1,000 people. Recently named Europe's Best Factory, the site has low-cost production, brings innovative products to market and has an advanced approach to flexible, customer-focused production with outstanding quality results. AirbusThe site in Flintshire is Airbus’s center of excellence for wing manufacturing, responsible for the sub-assembly and manufacturing of large components and wing assembly for the entire Airbus family. Over 5,000 people are employed on the site, which is involved in wing skin milling, wing box assembly and full wing equipping. The factory was purpose built to create effective flow in the manufacturing of these huge structures and provides an unusual example of manufacturing large-scale products in a lean environment. The site is also pioneering the use of new carbon fiber technologies to improve product performance.
